We have just returned back to England after a ten day break in Athens. Fantastic city, friendly people, nice hotel but we will never forget Alexander the Great restaurant!!!! The best food we have ever tried. Excellent service, reasonable prices, and very nice,cosy environment. The stuff helped us in so many ways and they are fluent in many languages. We actually loved it there. We will return back there really soon!!!

We ate at Alexander the Great Restaurant purely because it was located directly across from our hotel the first night we got into Athens. I have worked for and dined at 5 star restaurants and resorts throughout the world and I am not exagerating in the slightest when I say that this little resturant served without a doubt, the very best food I have ever eaten in my life! The ambience is relaxing, cultural, and most important for any traveler, comfortable.
The staff was wonderful, friendly, and very effecient. One of the waiters told me that it is all run by his family, mainly him and his sisters. If I still worked in the hospitality industry, I would not hesitate to hire their cook and their whole staff to run a similar restaurant in the states.
If you go, and I dare to say you are being foolish if you do not, I recommend the meat platter with all of the assorted meats and the baked feta. I found the prices to be very fair and reasonable and enjoyed it so much that we actually took all of our group back the second night to show them what we had been raving about. I still smile when I think about the wonderful food and ambiance. I was not a huge fan of the city of Athens, prefering the isle of Rhodes but I would detour on any return trip to make sure that I ate again at Alexander the Great Restaurant. Bravo to all of you!
